CSV to JSON Converter
Paste or upload a CSV file and get clean JSON instantly, with the delimiter detected and values typed for you.
About CSV to JSON Conversion
CSV (comma-separated values) is the most common way to export data from spreadsheets and databases, while JSON is what most APIs, web apps and config files expect. This converter follows the CSV standard (RFC 4180) and also handles the variations real files tend to have.
What it handles
- Comma, semicolon, tab and pipe delimiters, detected automatically
- Quoted values containing delimiters, line breaks and escaped quotes:
"Ann ""The Coder"" Lee" - Windows, Mac and Unix line endings, and the byte-order mark Excel adds
- Blank or duplicate column names, which are renamed so no data is lost
- Rows with too few or too many values, reported as warnings
How to Use
- Paste your CSV, click Upload CSV, or drop a file onto the input box.
- Check the delimiter and options. The JSON updates as you change them.
- Choose an indent, or Minified for the smallest output.
- Click Copy JSON or Download .json.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
No. Files are read and converted entirely in your browser and never leave your device.
Numbers become JSON numbers, true/false become booleans, and empty cells or "null" become null. Values like 007 or very long IDs stay strings so leading zeros and digits are never lost. Turn detection off to keep every value as a string.
Columns named like address.city and address.zip are combined into a nested address object.
Yes. Excel uses semicolons in regions where the comma is the decimal separator, and auto-detect picks that up. You can also choose the delimiter yourself.
